News update on 6th March 2012.
With the grace of Allmighty Allah, the new building was opned back in June 2011. There are now some 370 children who attend our madressa. I pray for all those people who donated generously for the project.
There are some 19 classrooms where teaching is carried out; but already there is not enough space to accomodate all of the children who attend the madressa. We have already started small classes in the main halls.
It is worth noting that in addition to the excellent work which all the Ustads do, there are a lot of people who work behind the scene to make it all possible. All our Ustads are CBR checked as they work with the children, and are paid legally by direct debit.
The fee we charge for the teaching, hardly covers the wages we pay to the Ustads. And recently we have employed a caretaker to take care of the maitenance of the building. This is absolutely necessary; otherwise the building will fall into disrepair.
All this is costing money, and here we need your continuos support. You have helped generously in the past, and I am sure you will continue with your support. Your donations will be recognised by Allah SWT, who will no doubt reward you, both in this world and the Akhera.
There are some people who have continued with their direct debit since the launch of the project. May Allah SWT reward you abundantly for your donations.
Jazakumullah,
G. Bakawala (president)

The original migration of muslims to Coventry occurred around after the second world war. Majority of these muslims were from the Indian sub continent, ie India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. However, a sizable muslim migration occurred in late sixties / early seventies from the politically and economically unstable east African countries. This migration consisted of muslims of various nationalities. Also, like other UK cities, Coventry has recently housed number of muslim brothers and sisters who migrated to UK as asylum seekers. There also exists a note worthy amount of international muslim student population in Coventry. The overall population of muslims residing in Coventry is in the region of 35 000. It is now necessary to hold two Friday prayers and in order to is if accommodate all the attendees at ldd prayers it is necessary to hold up to three Idd prayers. The increase in population has also placed an unsustainable demand on the existing educational facilities. For example, presently Islamic education is provided to some 200 children of age between 5 years to 13 years with many on waiting list. Also, there is no facility to provide education to children above 13 years of age or to run adult classes for male and female.
The society, having thoroughly considered the above situation, came to the conclusion of constructing a new teaching block adjacent to the existing mosque, as indicated on the drawings placed under development (project drawing) section. The new teaching block has been designed in a way that it will satisfy the demand of the additional prayer attendees with the proposed two storey halls situated T beside the mosque. The most essentially required teaching facilities will be satisfied by the provision of proposed class room block next to the proposed two storey halls as shown on the plans. The new teaching block will be very helpful in satisfying the existing demands as well as expanding the teaching facilities to the children above the age of 13 years and to the adults also. It will also provide educational facilities for the sisters, which the organisation is lacking presently.
